We all know and very well understand the role technology plays in our lives especially in today's modern times. We all are surrounded by a sea of technology. Every product or service used by we, the humans, directly or indirectly involves technology.
The smartphone that we use is embedded with loads of apps, the tablet-computers with which we browse the internet and the internet itself is a lively example of the evolution of technology. The guru-ghantaal(big-daddy) of all search engines GOOGLE is too work of technology.
The technology now-a-days has helped us humans in achieving almost all its needs, comforts, desires, wants, luxuries, etc. Talk of the 60s, we had entry of typewriter, calculators, walkmans. 70s, was the era of micro-processors, digital camera. The 80s, we had the advent of CDs, APPLE Mcintosh, MICROSOFT windows, space shuttle. the 90s, saw the emergence of DVDs, text-messages, etc.
Ever wondered, from where a raw idea about these final products came from? The answer is the human intellectual powers along with the combined efforts of HUMAN BRAIN. The human brain has been considered as a fine fertile land where ideas germinate.
Technology has in a way made our lives a-clutter-free-daily-affair. Its providing comforts which are necessary to the human being. One can transmit data to any hand-held device wirelessly and that too within seconds, I mean was it possible a few deacades ago. We can talk to our friends/relatives through Skype. How cool is that.
But my dear friends, a coin always has two sides ie the same technology is hampering the development of human intellect. Technology in a way is making humans forget the super-powers of the brain.
Its a very common site these days if you happen to travel by Delhi Metro rail during morning rush-hour. Majority of people standing around you are busy playing games on their smartphones. Playing games such as candy crush, subway surfer, etc. are taking major time off their travel. Very rarely one sees a person reading a book or a newspaper, etc. unless one happens to be a student preparing for civil services exam. These games are a direct attack on an individual's intellectual brain.
I was reading a full page article in one of the Sunday editions of Hindustan Times on gaming addiction among the age group of 19-35 year old. There were interviews of people who accept that they are addicted to playing games whenever they get free time. One gentleman was open to even accept that the games are so addictive that it eats up his family time. Poor kids I would say. Another one submitted to the point that these addictive games were eating up his social time & diminishing his social life.
By no means we should out-rightly develop hatred towards technology, but there's an old saying that excess of everything is bad.
In my view, we the human beings have always survived on intellectual powers and not on technological power. Ask someone marooned on an uninhabitable island where there was no mobile network, no internet, no technology but the positive gut feelings/thoughts from the brain that powered the individual to wade through it and emerge as a survivor.
Agreed to the point that modern world sans technology is nothing but a boring world but WHAT'S THE POINT IN LIVING IN A WORLD SURROUNDED BY HUMANOIDS??
